4J - Roman Dewa Museum - September 2018, by Mr Jolly

On Thursday 27th September, 4J visited the Dewa museum in Chester to discover more about the Romans. The behaviour of the pupils was excellent, doing their school proud. In the morning, they were Roman soldiers and marched around the city. This included a trip to the amphitheatre. In the afternoon, 4J toured the museum where they learnt a lot about the topic.

As part of a celebration of Friendship, Year 4 visited St. Michael's Church in Bamford this morning. Along with nine other Church of England Schools we sang, prayed and celebrated Friendships and a succesful Year 4. The Bishop of Middleton led the service and the choir from St. Michael's school sang beautifully for us. It was a lovely to share the prayer wreaths we had made and look at those of the other schools.

On Friday 18th May, Year 4 fisted Thornham Cricket Club to play a tournament, in a round robin format, against 5 other local schools. The team won their last match coming 5th out of the six teams.They improved game on game taking on board the advice they were given.

This week we Year 4 have been visited by an author. John Malham is a non-fiction author and he told us all about the biography he has written about Queen Elizabeth II. It was very interesting and we even got to meet the Queen!

Today the Canal and River Trust came into our school. We were canal and river explorers, finding the dangers that we could see near the canal. We learnt about the dangers we could face, how to avoid them and what to do if we end up in any danger in water.
