Remote Education Provision
At St Peter’s, we are unwavering in our commitment to providing every student with access to high-quality education. While we firmly believe that in-person attendance is essential for academic success and personal development, we acknowledge that, in rare and exceptional circumstances, remote learning may be necessary to support individual cases.
Remote learning is reserved for situations where attending school in person is not feasible. These exceptional circumstances may include:
- Medical Needs: When a student is coping with a long-term illness, injury, or recovering from surgery, remote learning enables them to continue their education while they recuperate.
- Exceptional Family Circumstances: In rare instances, families may face challenges such as temporary relocation or unforeseen emergencies that prevent a student from attending school. Remote learning offers a temporary solution during these times.
- Severe Weather or Emergency Closures: If the school must close due to extreme weather or other emergencies, remote learning ensures students can stay engaged and maintain their progress.
- Special Educational Needs or Disabilities (SEND): For students with specific needs, remote learning can form part of a tailored, individualized support plan, especially when health or other factors temporarily limit attendance.
- Public Health Situations: In cases of public health concerns—such as during an infectious disease outbreak—remote learning may be used to minimize disruption while safeguarding the school community.
Each case is assessed thoroughly on an individual basis. Remote education is only implemented when absolutely necessary and is carefully tailored to meet the unique needs of the student, ensuring they receive robust support to continue learning effectively.
When remote learning is implemented, we ensure that students have access to a curriculum consistent with what is taught in school. Work is designed to foster engagement and maintain academic progress, keeping students aligned with their peers. Our team collaborates closely with families to develop personalised remote learning plans, always prioritizing the safety and well-being of our students. Teachers provide regular guidance, feedback, and encouragement to keep students motivated and connected to their learning journey.
Our primary focus remains on maximising in-person attendance, as we believe it is critical for students’ academic and social growth. Remote learning is reserved solely for cases where attending school is not possible. It is implemented for clearly defined periods, with regular reviews to facilitate a return to in-person learning as soon as practicable.
