We had a wonderful assembly delivered by the NSPCC about worries children may face and how to recognise and approach these worries. The children learnt about lots of different people they can speak to both at home and at school.

We had a lovely morning at church thanking God for all he does for us and learning how important Harvest Festival is for Christians.

On Thursday 17th October we performed our class assembly to the school and our parents all about Harvest. We learnt some Harvest songs and added actions to our performance. We shared examples of work we have done in RE learning all about the Christian festival of Harvest. It was lots of fun to perform our class assembly for the school and we hope you all enjoyd it! :)

Jesus Feeds the 5000, by Miss Kelly

In RE we have been learning all about Harvest, we listened to the story of Jesus Feeds the 5000 and discussed how important it is to share food with others. We then acted out the story, sharing some yummy bread! One of us pretended to be Jesus, and the rest of us were his disciples. 

During our reflection rtime we thanked God for everything we have.

Today, Year 5 have been working either in groups or on their own to research an inspirational leader.  They then created a poster all about them.

Today we had some very special visitors, Sarah, Percy and Bill from Owl Babies came to our school! We learnt lots of different facts about owls; did you know that they have different coloured eyes depending on when they are awake, not all owls are nocturnal and some owls meow, woof and ribbit! 

What a lovely way to end our Owl Babies topic!

5N delivered a class worship to Year 5 on courage.  We watched the story of David and Goliath, and discussed how this linked with the value. They also asked the big question: 'Do you show courage in daily life?'

5N delievered our class worship on friendship.  They told the story of Jesus calling his disciples (Matthew 4:18-22).

Today in English, the children were tasked with pitching their transportation product to a group of executives.  They were split into three groups.  Within the group, one person was pitching and four others were acting as executives from a shop.  They had to try to convince the executives to buy their products.  

5N's Archbishop Young Leader Award's walk of trust for badge 2 - October 2019, by Miss Nuttall

Today, Year 5 worked in pairs to complete their walk of trust.  They had to lead their partner, who had their eyes closed, out of the classroom, and down the ramp.  They then swapped roles and led their partner back in class.

This morning, 6H presented their fossil projects to the rest of the class. The children have been looking at fossils for the Science topic and continued their learning at home to produce some wonderful projects. 

2F'S Class Assembly - 10th October 2019, by Mrs Freeman

2F performed their class assembly to parents and the rest of the school. The assembly was about 'Freidnship' and how we can learn, from Jesus to be the best friends possible. The assembly included live footage from the scene of 'Jesus and the Children', interviews and a calm reflection time at the end.

Stephen joined us to lead a class worship in the hall.  We looked at how Jesus helped to heal people, and why it is important to say thank you. 

5N Archbishop Young Leader Award Badge 1 - October 2019, by Miss Nuttall

Yesterday, 5N started their Archbishop Young Leaders Award.  In their first session, they looked at what qualities a good leader would have.  They were also tasked with completing the cup challenge.  They worked in groups, and were given an elastic band.  Their challenge was to make a tower using the cups and only the elastic band.  They were not allowed to touch the cups, and they were given 5 minutes to complete the task.  5N showed great teamwork and leadership skills whilst completing the task, and every group managed to make a tower.

6H Pupil led worship - October 2019, by Miss Hulse

6H delivered our Year 6 worship this morning, based on our Christian value of Thankfulness. We told the story of 'The Last Supper' (Matthew 26:17–30) and discussed how the disciples where thankful to Jesus. We also discussed how we can mirror their actions in our own lives.  

Manchester Airport , by Miss Wilkinson

On Tuesday 15th October, we had a fantastic day out to Manchester Airport. We learnt all about different types of aeroplanes and what materials are used to create aeroplanes. The children also had an opportunity to sit in the flight deck to imagine what it would be like to fly an aeroplane. We all had an amazing time! 

Church - October 2019, by Miss Hulse

This morning, Year 6 walked with their special friends in Reception, to join Rev. Watkinson for our church service. Here the children sung songs, read passages (Exodus 16:1-3, Exodus 16:11-15 and Exodus 17:1-7) and thought about how we should be thankful for all we have in this world, including food. The children then read aloud their own prayers to thank God. 

Crucial Crew - October 2019 , by Miss Hulse

Yesterday, Year 6 had a wonderful time at Crucial Crew. They showed model behaviour and enthusiasm throughout the trip. Crucial Crew is an event, organised by Child Safety Media Ltd, that aims to raise the awareness of safety issues to primary school children. The organisations include St John Ambulance, Greater Manchester Police, Rochdale Borough Homes, Travelsafe, R.N.L.I., British Transport Police and Rochdale Safeguarding Board. The children discussed and took part in activates that would help to keep them safe.
