This morning 5N had a fantastic time taking part in a Mayan workshop.  They learnt lots of facts, and were able to show off their acting skills.

On Friday the children visited MOSI ( Museum of Science and Industry). They had an amazing time exploring the Museum  and taking part in the workshops. The children learned all about light and how it travels and the different kinds forces that we use all the time. The highlight of the day for everyone was when Mrs Green skydived  from 10,000 and made it back in one piece!

We all had a brilliant day. smiley

Yesterday, 6H worked well on starting their D.T shelters. The children were extremely sensible using all of the D.T equipment and were able to saw the wood to the correct side needed. A great start!

Yesterday, the Year 6 children had a wonderful music lesson with Mr Keeley, from Kingsway Park High school. The children had to keep a steady pulse to a piece of music by clapping and tapping their feet whilst singing. All of the children were thoroughly engaged and really enjoyed themselves.

Last Friday Year 4 were treated to a trip to Manchester we visited the Stoller Hall, which is part of Chethams School of Music, and watched a concert called “Sound Sums.” The concert was really good and we even had to do some maths! Thank you to Miss Nutall for booking this trip for Year 4.

6H Class Collective Worship - November 2019 , by Miss Hulse

6H delivered our Year 6 worship this morning, based on our Christian value of Trust. The children told shared a video and rad from the Bible, explaining the story of David and Goliath (1 Samuel 17). The children discussed how David put his trust in God and that’s exactly what we should do. We ended the worship by singing a song all about Trust and a lovely prayer.

5N led our collective worship this morning all about perservernace.  We learnt about the story of David and Goliath, and how David showed perserverance when fighting Goliath.

Year 5 really enjoyed taking part in the mental health workshop with Amanda.  We looked at different ways to help our mental health including: having a positive mindset, meditation, our diet and how much time we have to sleep at night.

Today, Year 5 were given an exciting opportunity to work with Amanda who is an Athlete Mentor.  Five of the children from Year 5 were chosen to be Mental Health ambassadors.  They worked with Amanda this morning on ideas of how we can help our mental health.  

Year 3 and Year 5's church visit about remembrance - November 2019, by Miss Nuttall

Year 3 and Year 5 went to church for a special service all about remembrance.  We talked about the different symbols there are for remembrance including the cross, poppys and fireworks. We remembered how much Jesus gave up for us, and why it is important to remember him. 

LEGOLAND, by Miss Kyte

On Wednesday we visited LEGOLAND Manchester. We had a fantastic time playing with the different pieces of lego and challenging ourselves to build lots of models. We played in the Lego soft play area, drove the Lego police cars around a track and was even lucky enough to watch a 4D Lego film! We all attended a spinning top workshop where we learnt how to build our own spinning tops and then created a device to make our spinning tops spin even faster! We had a brilliant day and learnt lots of interesting new things!

Today, pupils in 6M led worship, focussing on the value of 'trust'. They used the Bible story of 'Daniel in the Lion's Den' to show how this value is shown.

On Friday 8th November, 4C was hit by an Earthquake! The clasroom tables were upturned and there were papers everywhere. This was related to our Geography theme How the Earth Shake Rattles and Roll. The children were trying to understand, in a small way, the impact Earthquakes have on the lives of people affected.

Y6 Visit the Imperial War Museum North - November 2019, by Mrs Molloy

Today, Y6 enjoyed their visit to The Imperial War Museum North. We experienced the 'Ministry of Memory' where the children wore headsets to aid their exploration of the museum. We held a two minutes silence at 11am, which gave us all a chance to reflect upon how lives are affected by war.

M6 Theatre Linking Network -November 2019, by Mrs Cavill

On Thursday 7th November 4C met the children from St.Joseph’s Roman Catholic school in Heywood. St.Joseph’s is our linking school and we will be meeting them a number of times over the year. Our first meeting was at M6 Theatre. We played some games and watched a Superhero show. After the show, we met the actors and took part in some drama workshops. We had a brilliant day! 4C met a class of strangers and left with a class full of new friends.

Today, Year 5 went on a walk to Rochdale Town Hall.  On the way there, we were looking at our local community.  We were thinking about: where people gather, are there people we could serve, are there any parts that we could improve or change and are there are any parts which may look a little run down?  

When we got back to school, we shared our ideas, and discussed how we would improve our local area. This is linking with our work on Archbishop Young Leaders Award, and this is for our third badge. 

Year 5 attending the Armistice Service - November 2019 , by Miss Nuttall

Today, Year 5 went to the Schools' Armistice Service at Rochdale Town Hall.  We made a wreath to take with us, and laid it at the cenotaph.  We were very pleased to take part, and it was a very moving and important event.
