Year 1 had a fabulous trip to Clitheroe Castle. They did lots of exciting activies and learnt lots of fun facts about Castles, Keeps, Myths and Legends.

We visited Cannon Hall Farm to learn more about where our food comes from. We had a tour around the farm and looked at all the different types of animals. We fed the animals and petted some of them. We then had time to play in the adventure playground!

Our class assembly was all about a book we have been reading in English. The book is called Harvey Slumfenbergers Christmas present. We had lots of fun practising the assembly and we hope you enjoyed it. :)

In Design and Technology we have been making moving pictures. We have based our moving pictures on fairy tales and had lots of fun watching our pictures moves.

Woodland Walk, Collecting Autumn leaves, by Miss Seasman

In geography we have been learning about Seasons, we went on the Woodland Walk to see how leaves change colour from green to red, orange and brown in Autumn. We had lots of fun!

Year 1 Football Tournament, by Miss Crabtree

The children had a brilliant time playing in a football tournament at Spotland Stadium. The children won 2 games out of 4. We are very proud of them.

Year 1 visit from Mr Watkinson, by Miss Mortimer

Year 1 have been learning about followers of Jesus this half term. As part of this we invited Mr Watkinson, the vicar from St Peter's Church, in to class to answer some of the children's questions about following Jesus. The children asked some great questions and were very interested in Mr Watkinson's life following Jesus.

Year 1 trip to Smithills Open Farm, by Miss Mortimer

We had a fantastic, if very cold and wet, day at Smithills Open Farm. We started off feeding the animals and having a ride on the tractor. Then we each had a donkey ride before lunch. After lunch we watched the cows being milked and went to pets corner. In pets corner we had the chance to look at, hold and feed all sorts of baby animals.

Year 1 trip to Clitheroe Castle, by Miss Mortimer

On the last day of Autumn 1 half term year 1 went on a trip to Clitheroe Castle.

We learnt all about the castle and who used to live there, we built our own sand motte and bailey castles, we learnt how to use a sword and a shield and we heard all about dragons and knights.
