Today the children have enjoyed completing Pudsey Bear activities for children in need. The children were also excited to have their biscuit and to give donations to charity!

In the morning, we had a workshop on rocks and fossils. Then, we had some free time to explore the gadgets in the gallery. In the afternoon, we had a workshop on light.

Today, we had a fantatsic trip to the Catalyst Museum. We started our day with a workshop all about light! We explored the different sources of light and the many animals and plants that make their own light. Afterwards, we looked at ourselves in infared. Later in the day, we moved our learning towards fossils, rocks and volcanoes. We created our own volcanoes using bicarbonate of soda and vinegar. What happened when we mixed these together? Then, we looked at the different types of rocks and created our own fossil. What a great trip!

5C had a supersonic visit to the enormous telescope at Jodrell Bank. The telescope collects radio waves and studies outer space. We had an amazing time and 5C were super well behaved.

Year 6 - Art Educational Visit – Moving Figures – Lowry, by Miss Hulse

Year 6 visited The Lowry in Salford to look at the collection of Laurence Stephen Lowry’s work. This provided the children with a critical and curatorial analysis of his work and the children were able to focus on moving figures.
6R Class Assembly, by Miss O'Regan

6R led the school in an assembly all about Remembrance. They reflected on the importance of the month of November and how the poppy became a symbol to remember all of the brave men and women who have helped to keep our country safe. We shall remember them.
Year 6 - History Educational Visit – What was life like for children during WW2?, by Miss Hulse

Year 6 visited The Imperial War Museum North in Salford to learn more about what life was like during WWI and WWII. The children focussed on the impact of war for children and how the effects changed lives.

Today we have the most amazing trip. We went to see the Lovell telescope at Jodrell Bank. We learnt so much information about Earth, Space and the planets! We went on a virtual tour of space in the Space Dome which was mindblowing!

We have enjoyed learning about patterns and using natural materials to make patterns. We used natural materials to make cats, talking about the shapes we needed to represent the different features. We have also investigated the maths area within our classroom, using the different resources independently with our friends.

Yesterday, 4H had an amazing time at Manchester Museum. In the morning, we had an Ancient Eqyptian workshop, where we learned a lot using artefacts. We had to decide which ancient artefact was the most important based on material, beauty, rarity and their story. With our guide MAttie, we then explored the Egypt exhibition, where we looked at a real mumified body!
In the afternoon, we explored some of the exhibitions throughout the museum - the living worlds exhibition and the fossils and dinosaurs areas.

Yesterday, 4R had a fantastic time at Manchester Museum. We started the day in the Living Worlds exhibition before moving onto Fossils and Dinosaurs, where we got to meet Stan the Trex! We then had chance to visit their temporary exhibition Triceratops: Eat, Roam, Repeat where we had to dig for dinosaur bones, held a real dinosaur scale and practised walking like a dinosaur!
In the afternoon, we had our Ancient Egyptian workshop, which we have been learned about in History! Pupils in Year 2 have been working very hard this week in maths adding and subtracting two digit numbers. They have learnt how to add and subtract by partitioning and exchanging.Well done year 2!

Year 1KW Class assembly
We thoroughly enjoyed learning all about the Christian festival of Harvest and sharing what we discovered in our Year 1 class assembly. The children learned about the importance of giving and helping others, especially during Harvest time, when we think about those who may not have enough food. We had great fun learning new autumn songs and practising our lines for the performance. We hope you enjoyed watching our assembly as much as we enjoyed preparing it. I am incredibly proud of all the children for their hard work, enthusiasm, and confidence. Well done, Year 1!

Year 1KW Maths
Year 1 have been learning all about numbers and place value this term, following the. We have been exploring numbers within 10, learning to count forwards and backwards, compare groups, and understand one more and one less. The children have used lots of concrete resources such as counters, cubes, and number tracks to help them build strong number sense. We have worked both in groups and independently to solve problems and explain our thinking. Next term, we will continue to practise and build fluency with our number bonds to 10. Well done, Year 1, for all your fantastic effort and enthusiasm in maths!

WOW what a busy first half term we have had. We have been learning the new rules and routines, as well as getting to know all our new friends. We have been looking and working on the book ‘Pete the Cat and his new white shoes’ by Eric Litwin. Our teacher's are all so proud of how we have settled so quickly into our new nursery class. Year 1KW English
This term, we have been learning all about instructional writing! We explored what instructions are, why they are useful, and where we might find them in everyday life. We focused on using time connectives to show the order of steps and imperative verbs to make our writing clear and direct. After practising as a class, we worked in groups and then independently to write our own set of instructions on how to make a jam sandwich. To finish our learning in the tastiest way possible, we followed our instructions to make a real jam sandwich – and of course, Year 1 enjoyed eating them too!

This term we have been learning about technology by using both computers and iPads. The children practised their mouse and keyboard skills, including clicking, dragging, typing their names, and using the arrow and delete keys. They used a drawing program to create digital art on the iPad and learned how to open and save their work. We also had important discussions about using technology safely and respectfully, thinking about rules that help us stay safe and healthy when using devices at school and at home.

In computing this week, Year 2 children have been learning about how information technology helps us in our daily lives. They explored and recognised different types of technology, such as computers, tablets, and smartboards. The children also learned how IT devices can work together, for example, how a computer connects to a printer or the internet. Finally, they discussed the reasons why we use IT, such as to communicate, learn, and have fun.
Pupils learnt how barcodes work and used pretend barcodes to purchase items.

Year 6 had a lovely afternoon, we used clay to create a 3D form that conveyed movement. The children did a brilliant job!
Year 2 making Wind Vanes, by Mrs Bradley

In Geography, Year Two have been learning all about the seasons and the weather. As part of our lessons, we made our very own wind vanes using pencils, straws, cardboard, and Blu Tack. We carefully assembled the different parts so that the straw and cardboard arrow could turn freely in the wind.
Once our wind vanes were ready, we took them outside to test how well they worked — and they were a great success!

St Peter's School Council Election, by Miss Hirst

This afternoon, 4H took part in the school council election. Some children came to the front and shared to the rest of the class why they thought that they should be chosen as the school council representative for our class. The children spoke about what personality traits would help them to complete the role and also what they would like to implement to improve aspects of school life. An election then took place for the children to choose who they thought deserved the role for 4H. Well done to all children who took part! The posters that were made for the election looked lovely and I was really impressed with the confidence you held speaking in front of the class!
