Year 6H 2025 - 2026

Welcome to 6H

Welcome back to the final term of Year 6! We have lots of fun and exciting activities planned for this last half term. Over the course of this half term the children will be working extremely hard in all areas of the curriculum.

This half term within R.E, we will be focussing on ‘Why do some people believe in God and some not?’ and sharing our thoughts as a class. The children will be answering Big Questions and posing their own. The Christian Value we will explore is ‘Truthfulness'.

Within English, we will be focussing on different genres of writing where the children have the opportunity to edit and redraft their work; ensuring each piece of writing shows their true potential. We start by exploring 'The Eighteenth Emergency' by Bets Byars, thinking about writing an alternative ending, we will also be reading the story in class and basing our writing around it. We will be using the thoughts and feelings of the characters to produce our writing.

Within Maths, we will be beginning to complete themed projects, consolidation and problem-solving activities that are bringing together all the wonderful knowledge the children have gained over the year.  Children will be taking part in Freckles Maths and answer questions that are marked automatically and then are tested at the end. We will continue with the competition between the classes on TT Rock stars, and we will see which class wins just before the end of the term.

Within science, we will be looking at electricity. Children will get the opportunity to observe how electricity works and thinking about how a circuit is formed correctly.

Within History, we will be looking at modern Britain and thinking about 'How has life changed in modern Britain?'. We will be learning about important events that have happened within modern Britain and how that has changed our lived today.

We are looking forward to another exciting term with Year 6, there last one at St Peter's!
