Year 3W 2022 - 2023
Welcome back to the second half of the Autumn term. I hope you all had a lovely half term break!
What will we be learning?
In maths, we will start the term by focusing on finding the perimetre of 2-D shapes. We will then continue to look at shapes by finding lines of symmetry.
In English, we are focusing on books that link to our Histroy topic 'The Stone Age'. The children will explore the books by creating storyboards, writing dialogue and using the dictionary to find unfamilar words. Can you tell me your favourite character from our book 'Stig of the Dump'?
In History, our topic is 'The Stone Age.' We will be exploring how cavemen lived and how this is different to the way we live now. The children will also look at the three periods of the Stone Age: Palaeolithic, Mesolithic and Neolithic.
The Science topic this term is Light and Shadow. The children will learn different light and sources as well as the defintion of darkness. We will investigate light further through many excting experiments.
This term in RE, will see a focus on Christmas. We will begin by exploring the importance of God's presence and how his presence makes us feel. The children will then explore the christmas story further through Bible stories. Each RE lesson will contain a time for reflection where the children will be encouraged to consider their thoughts and actions in daily life and how to further improve these in order to follow in the footsteps of Jesus. We will also be starting our Christmas play practise soon...very exciting!
