Year 4 Visit catalyst-September 2023, by Mrs Cavill
Date: 28th Sep 2023 @ 4:43pm
On Tuesday 26th September, Year 4 visited catalyst Science and Discovery centre.
Today, we completed two workshops and had some time to explore the interactive gallery.
One workshop was called Tasty Toothpaste. We looked at the sugar content of some of the everyday things we all eat and drink. We were very surprised at how much sugar was actually in some of our drinks. We made our own toothpaste and tested it, against shop bought toothpaste. They both did a very good job
The other workshop explored proving that gas exists and that is all around us, as it is harder to observe and see it in comparison to solids and liquids.

Rochdale Pioneers Museum 22.06.23, by Miss Healey
Date: 22nd Jun 2023 @ 12:26pm
Today we walked in the BEAUTIFUL sunshine to Toad Lane to find out all about how the co-operative movement began in our town of Rochdale. We dressed up, played games, found out loads of information and even learnt about how they used to put awful things in shop food to bulk it out so they didn't have to give people as much! Horrible! We were very glad to learn Rochdale was the unique town to decide enough was enough and created substatially better living conditions based on equality, education and mutual respect! There are co-operatives all over the world now and it started with our little town.

4J visits Orsdall Hall, by Mr Jolly
Date: 15th Jun 2023 @ 4:19pm
The day was centred around rich vs poor Tudor life.
We all started in the hall where a banquet was being served and the children acted out different roles.
We split into two groups: one with Lady Catherine, a rich lady living at the home, and one with Martha, a servant.
Lady Catherine taught the children about the house owner’s life – he was a sheriff and a knight and showed us around his bedroom with his bed costing £20 (worth 60 horses). The children then made a nose gaze, only afforded by the rich.
Martha showed the children the ropes in the kitchen, how to make a spice mix and how they collected water. The also took them on a tour of the gardens.
We came back together at the end to learn some Tudor dancing.
