Year 4 History Walk, by Mrs Cavill
Date: 29th Mar 2017 @ 3:22pm
Year 4 had a lovely walk to Rochdale on Tuesday.
We were VERY lucky with the weather!. We walked into Rochdale with a quiz trail and a pattern trail. The children had to look at buildings and statues of people from the Victorian times. We found Rochdale has a lot of historical significance. We also found lots of names we can google for further research. Have a look!

A hunting we will go!!, by Mr Murray
Date: 10th Mar 2017 @ 11:20pm
Animals and their habitats.
We are very lucky here at St Peter's to have a good outdoor space that has a varied ecosystem. Our woodland walk gave us chace to view birds nesting, funghi growing naturally and a variety of minibeasts hidden within the bark footpath.
Following from here we went into the allotments and school gardens. Here we got to see effectively where creatures may hide for shelter and safety.
The class made many observations throughout the lesson and could talk in good detail about what they found and the impact of their discoveries.

"Shiver Me Timbers!" PIRATE SCIENCE., by Mrs Cavill
Date: 1st Feb 2017 @ 9:59pm
Oh my Goodness! What a shock we had last week when a Pirate turned up during our Reward Assembly on Friday. His ship had been wrecked and he found himself in Rochdale. He asked a passerby where he could find some helpful scientists to help him rebuild his boat and get back on his way. She told him "St. Peter's Primary School is packed full of scientists!" and that's how he ended up in our school hall. Look at the photos of how we helped him.

Earthquakes Hit Year 4!, by Mr Murray
Date: 11th Nov 2016 @ 3:31pm
Dear all,
Please see our images to see how we started off our Geography work. The topic is does the earth shake, rattle and roll? In order to gain some understanding we built small shelter/house replicas out of cocktail sticks and sweets. Then we tested these on a bed of jelly to see which shapes worked the best. An "earthquake" hit the classroom in order to see the reaction of the children to the devastation caused.
Please see our photograps and we hope you enjoy them as mucuh as we enjoyed doing it!

Remembrance Day 2016, by Mr Whelan
Date: 11th Nov 2016 @ 11:43am
On 11th November at 11am we held a Remembrance Assembly so we could remember all those who have died, especially in wars. The Year 6 children had made poppy wreaths and we all listened to some poems, prayed and had a two minute silence.
We were very lucky to have Mr Murray lead our 2 minute silence by playing the 'Last Post' on the cornet. The "Last Post" is a cavalry trumpet call used in military funerals and ceremonies commemorating those who have been killed in war. He then finished the two minute silence by playing 'Reveille'. The two tunes symbolise sunset and sunrise respectively, and therefore, death and resurrection. Thank you Mr Murray!

At the end of this academic year we held a very special 100% attendance assembly - to celebrate those children who have made the excellent achievement of being in school every day for the whole year! Each of these children received a £10 gift voucher so that they could choose themselves a treat, and they were also entered into our golden ticket winner draw. Just one lucky 100% attendance child won this draw and an extra special prize! They were able to come with their family and Mr Whelan to Halfords to choose themselves their dream bike! As well as this they chose a helmet, lights, a pump and a lock! What an excellent prize for such a super achievement!!
Well done to all of our 100% attendance children - remember next year it could be you!
