Remembrance collective worship - November 2019 , by Miss Hulse

This morning, we were lucky enough to have Reverend Margaret Smith, Rochdale Town Chaplain, to deliver our collective worship. She spoke all about remembrance and the important of the body. The children were reflective and thought about the important of remembering those to have sadly died during wars.

Today, Y6 had a visit from the firefighters. They learnt all about how to have fun at this time of year with bonfires and fireworks but most importantly, they learnt how to stay safe.

This morning, 6H presented their fossil projects to the rest of the class. The children have been looking at fossils for the Science topic and continued their learning at home to produce some wonderful projects.

6H delivered our Year 6 worship this morning, based on our Christian value of Thankfulness. We told the story of 'The Last Supper' (Matthew 26:17–30) and discussed how the disciples where thankful to Jesus. We also discussed how we can mirror their actions in our own lives.

This morning, Year 6 walked with their special friends in Reception, to join Rev. Watkinson for our church service. Here the children sung songs, read passages (Exodus 16:1-3, Exodus 16:11-15 and Exodus 17:1-7) and thought about how we should be thankful for all we have in this world, including food. The children then read aloud their own prayers to thank God.
Crucial Crew - October 2019 , by Miss Hulse

Yesterday, Year 6 had a wonderful time at Crucial Crew. They showed model behaviour and enthusiasm throughout the trip. Crucial Crew is an event, organised by Child Safety Media Ltd, that aims to raise the awareness of safety issues to primary school children. The organisations include St John Ambulance, Greater Manchester Police, Rochdale Borough Homes, Travelsafe, R.N.L.I., British Transport Police and Rochdale Safeguarding Board. The children discussed and took part in activates that would help to keep them safe.

6H delivered our Year 6 worship this morning, based on our Christian value of Thankfulness. We told the story of 'The Ten Leapers' (Luke 17: 11-19) and discussed why we would be thankful and how we show this value.
6H's NSPCC Workshop - October 2019 , by Miss Hulse

Following on from the assembly held in the morning, 6H were lucky enough to take part in a workshop to develop their learning about the NSPCC even further. The children were able to discover the types of worries and difficult that might face children today and discussed the ways in which to tell a trusted adult. The children completed some fun activities, including designing a chatterbox that the children could take home.

This morning, the children were able to take part in an assembly hosted by the NSPCC. The children discussed the worries they might face in life and growing up and discussed who they could share these worries with at home and school.

Today, children in Y6 brought biscuits and money in to contribute towards our annual Macmillan coffee morning. Our children love participating in charitable events as we are putting into practise the Christian Values of Kindness and Comoassion whilst we think and reflect about people in the world who need our help.

Today, children in 6M planned and delivered worship to the year group. The focus was on the Christian value of 'Thankfulness'. The value was explored further through The Bible story of Noah's Ark (Genesis 6:9-9:17).

Year 6 had a fantastic time meeting their 'Special Friends' in Reception, this afternoon. Each child was paired up with a Reception child and spent the afternoon getting to know them and what they enjoy doing whilst in Reception. The Year 6 children will make weekly visits to spend time with their 'Special Friend', help with their learning and have fun!

6H lead collective worship this morning, the children focussed the worship upon out Christian value of 'thankfulness'. The children discussed the injustice around the world and what we can do to help. We read aloud 'Jesus and Widow' (Mark 12:41-44) and concluded that the window was very thankful for all she had, even though it was not a lot.
Year 6 - Hockey - September 2019 , by Miss Hulse

Year 6 had a fabulous afternoon, learning how to play hockey. The children worked extremely well in their pairs, passing the ball along the floor in a controlled manner. These skills will be built upon over the next coming weeks ending with the children having a full match.
6H - Reverend Stephen Watkinson class worship - September 2019, by Miss Hulse

This afternoon, 6H took part in class collective worship lead by our Reverend Stephen Watkinson. The worship focused on our Christian value of thankfulness. The children shared their ideas about thankfulness and listen to a Bible story of Jesus healing the ten men (Luke 17:11-19). The worship ended with the children thinking about the injustice in the world and prayers about how we should be thankful for all we have.

During our first week in Year 6, we have revisited 'The Big Frieze', exploring the key Christian concepts. Children enjoyed giving meraning to symbols and ordering pictures with their meanings.

We are so proud of our Year 6 children, who did an amazing job with our production of ‘The Lion King’. Their singing, dancing and acting was unreal and they really did shine!

Children in Year 6 enjoyed the careers morning. It began with asking questions to our visitors so we could guess what their job was. We had professinals from:
- The Church
- Hopwood Hall College
- Rochdale Football Club
- NHS
- A Medical Centre

Whalley Abbey Retreat - July 2019, by Miss Hulse

On Wednesday 4th July, the Year 6 children went on an end of year retreat to Whalley Abbey. This was a wonderful day where the children were able to look back and reflect on their time at St Peter’s and think about their journey as they leave to go to their new high schools. The children had a fun-filled day with activities to get them to really think about their journey through primary school and the years ahead in their futures; as well as thinking about their time as friends, working and playing together. This tied in with what the children were focusing on in their RE lessons - 'Life as a Journey'.
