Hopwood and 4J Linking, by Mr Jolly

Date: 22nd Mar 2023 @ 2:26pm

Year 4 had a fantastic day with Hopwood. When they arrived, we played some of our favourite introduction, getting to know you, games. Then we split into Sunflowers and Sheds. Each group completed two activities: a ceramic workshop, where they made a piece of art to represent something about them and a music workshop where they created a song.

Below are the lyrics to the two songs. There is also a recording of their perofmrances attached.

THE ADVENTURE by TheSheds

Playing football I feel free

Playing cricket I’m out of breath

Swimming makes me nervous

Swimming makes me scared

Going on an adventure

Going on an adventure

Going on an adventure

I’m excited and I’m happy

And I’m happy, and I’m happy

I’m happy, tired and safe at School

I’m comfortable at my Nanna’s

I’m joyful & playful at the park

In the country I’m relaxed

HOLDING UP THE WORLD by The Sunflowers

She’s powerful and brave

Holding on to the world

Holding up good feelings

Holding her family

Hold on to your dreams

Hold on to your breath

Holding up the world, waving your flag

Holding up the world, waving your flag

Holding onto home

Holding good emotions

Thoughts lift as she dreamed

Never letting go of memories

Silent Night is a delightful children's nativity set in 19th century Austria, where the villagers of Oberndorf are busy preparing for their Christmas Eve pageant. Amidst the hustle and bustle, they realise that naughty mice have destroyed the church organ. How will they organise music for their special celebrations at such short notice?

Discover through this beautifully adapted story how a poem written by a parish priest resulted in the well-loved carol Silent Night.
