Rights Respecting School
Rights Respecting Schools
St. Peter's is a Rights Respecting Ambassador school, one of only two in Rochdale to have achieved this award! This means that we are serious about children's rights and responsibilities and making sure these are followed in our school community.
RRS Ambassadors
Every year, four children from Years 5 and 6 are chosen to become our Rights Respecting School Ambassadors. Not only are they exemplary students, but they make sure that every child in our school has the opportunity to learn about rights and responsibilities and live these throughout our school day.
The Ambassadors:
6W
6H - Burhan
5J - Aayan
5M - Khadijah
UNICEF
UNICEF has produced 54 Articles, or rights, that they believe are vital for every child to have. At St. Peter's, we aim to ensure that all of these rights are clear in the way that we treat each other, work and play around the school. We also understand our responsibilities in relation to these rights.
Every class has:
- A Class Charter, stating their rights and responsibilities
- A display, reminding children of the key langauge of RRS
- An environment and relationships which reflect rights and responsibilities
- A curriculum which allows for exploration of our rights and responsibilities, and those of children living further away.
